Shifting Paradigms - Reflections of a Pandemic-iversary (2/2)

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among

things that change. But it doesn’t change.

People wonder about what you are pursuing.

You have to explain about the thread.

But it is hard for others to see.

While you hold it you can’t get lost.

Tragedies happen; people get hurt

or die; and you suffer and get old.

Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.

You don’t ever let go of the thread.

~ The Way it Is by William Stafford ~

The Way it Is became one of my touchstone poems since one of my heroes, Jacqueline Novogratz, read it to a small group of Acumen Academy Leaders from around the globe in 2015 as we sat in a semi-circle in Acumen’s bright open-concept office in New York. I come back to it often - usually in times of transition. This year has felt like a never-ending transition in which I've made a series of decisions to actively follow the thread rather than passively tripping over it time and again.

This commitment to honour the thread plus a few conversations during the recent cold snap led me to realize just how deeply many of us are craving a creative and energetic reset.

As the pandemic drags on and the season starts to change, the timing feels right to create an offering to honour the year we've had, and more importantly, to provide a warm and supportive community in which to recharge and get intentional about where we want to go next. Curious? Feeling similar? Let's connect!
